I'm a freelance writer based in Montgomery, Alabama...

I'm an avid cook and crazy about all food but get really giddy eating dishes and downing drinks made using things fresh and local. I'm really fond of small farms and farmers, adore chefs, and in addition to being passionate about anything eating-related, I'm instantly enamored of almost anything  handmade, especially if it's crafted in the  South. I'm envious of artists and photographers and enjoy discovering what makes them tick. I've also got a soft spot for Southern history and consider myself lucky to live in a place  that's  been the home of not just one, but several,  world-changing events.  I  have written about almost every topic imaginable, but I'm happiest finding the perfect words to describe and share the stories of the above. My articles have appeared in magazines and on websites including Garden & Gun, The Bitter Southerner, The Local PalateSouthern Living, American Profile, Alabama magazine, Paste magazine, Birmingham magazine, thekitchn.com, Travel & Leisure's website, Georgia magazine, Alabama Journey, Southern Lady, Southern Traveler, Lean magazine, al.com and bourbonandboots.com. I'm also a regular contributor to rootsrated.com and write a monthly food column for Alabama Living magazine, and I'm the web editor for readlean.org and managing editor of the Montgomery, Alabama, official Visitors Guide.

NEWS: My article on boucheries for The Local Palate is being published in the "Best Food Writing 2017" book (coming out in October 2017), and my "Friends to Strangers" article for The Bitter Southerner is currently a finalist for "best food and culture essay" in the 2017 Saveur magazine blog awards.
